The Embrace Yourself Movement

During a rather long (and rather awesome) Skype chat today with my wonderful friend, Parisa (from Aryán Natural Life), the #EmbraceYourselfMovement was born. In fact, it was Parisa who said the words”we should totally start a movement”! 🙂

But what does it really mean to embrace yourself?

Well, instead of criticising ourselves, feeling ashamed or embarrassed, feeling like we’re not good enough, not pretty enough, not thin enough, not fat enough, not young enough, just generally not enough in any way. Instead of all that crap (because it really is just a big pile of nonsense), what if we choose to embrace ourselves just as we are right now?

Yep, that’s right, we embrace ourselves with all our flaws, all of our imperfections, our wrinkles, grey hair, wobbly tummies, jiggly thighs, our bad moods and our lives not being exactly where we want them to be just yet. We embrace our seeming inability to find the right person to love, our tendency to stay in relationships that aren’t good for us, our health blips, our career blips, our financial blips….ALL of it. We embrace it all. THAT’s what it means to embrace ourselves.

So, if you’d like to join the #EmbraceYourselfMovement, take a big, slow, deep breath and tell yourself it’s all ok. In fact, it’s more than ok, for it is you and you are awesome and amazing and so very loved. ❤

Big thanks to Elizabeth Gilbert for this brilliant quote- she is the ultimate Embrace Yourself warrior! 🙂
