My Horse Fix – Day 252 of The Pollyanna Plan

I remember as a child, longing for Saturday mornings when I’d be lucky enough to go horse riding. It wasn’t so much about the riding part – although I do love it – but more about being around horses.

Horses are my definition of happiness. I love their gentle energy, their beauty and strength and I feel at peace in their company.

Sir Winston Churchill summed it up perfectly when he said, “There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man.” That’s one of my all time favourite quotes.

So, today when my Mum suggested going for a drive to search for the horses we helped out back in August, I jumped at the chance. Well, not literally jumped, as my neck is still extremely painful, but on the inside I was bouncing up and down! 🙂

The horses had been moved a month or so ago, but we soon found them in a different field with plenty of grazing. It felt wonderful to spend time patting and stroking them and it really helped to distract me from the pain in my neck.

It has also spurred me on to get healthy enough to start riding again and it has reawakened my ultimate dream which is to own a horse. I really cannot wait!

Day 252, Reason 252: Today I am very grateful for my horse fix, which has helped to keep up my happy, positive vibes and has inspired me to dream big.

  1. Riding was, and is, a big driver in my reasons to be fit.
I remember once thinking to myself “I am so happy” (because I was around horses) and then I looked around and I was up to my ankles in mud on the coldest day of the year with my hands in freezing water!! Madness!
    Good luck.

  2. I love horses! My uncle has three horses, but he doesn’t ride them. I’ve never gone horseback riding before. Sounds like fun though! 🙂
