It’s only few hours to go before the big 3-4! Yep, that’s right, it’s my birthday tomorrow, and although the child inside me is filled with anticipation, my adult self doesn’t really look forward to birthdays anymore.
Not the getting older part – I’m cool with that – but over the past few years, I’ve resigned myself to the fact that not many friends from my old life remember my birthday.
Chronic illness really puts a dampener on your social life – mine is extinct – and since I moved back to my home country to live with with my Mum, when I became too ill to manage on my own, I haven’t been well enough to socialise and meet any new friends here.
For some reason, birthdays are always a reminder for me of this lack of friends malarkey. So, I was completely surprised and very inquisitive when I opened the postbox this afternoon and saw there was a letter addressed to me.
I eagerly ripped open the envelope and found a card inside from a friend I haven’t heard much from for a while. It made me beam from ear to ear! To top it off, it was one of those fun personalised cards with my name on the front and a photo of me inside. It totally made my day, and now I’m really looking forward to tomorrow. 🙂
Day 162, Reason 162: Today I am so happy to receive a surprise early birthday card from an old friend.
I know “surprise” is spelt wrong, but this pic made me laugh, so I had to use it! 🙂
