Today is Day 100 of The Pollyanna Plan and I’m so pleased to announce that on this special day, I am feeling a little better than yesterday. Yippee!
I still have a way to go to reach my ultimate goal of good health, vitality and energy, but I believe that there have been some significant changes, developments and revelations in the past 100 days and if I continue the way I’m going, I will definitely get there.
So, without further ado, here is my reason to feel glad/happy/joyful today:
Day 100, Reason 100: I am so happy and very grateful for the longer, lighter evenings.
This morning, we had a visit from some family friends who are over on holiday. It was lovely to see them and catch up on all their news (they are always doing such exciting things,) but due to the autoimmune flare up I’m suffering from at the moment, I found socialising completely draining. When I’m feeling ill and exhausted, it is such a struggle just to hold a conversation and act “normal.” I have to concentrate extremely hard, whereas on a good day I wouldn’t even have to think about it.
Needless to say, after they had left, I collapsed into bed and slept like a log. Upon waking in the late afternoon, I was still feeling groggy and shattered (and quite emotional – another symptom of my illness) so my Mum suggested that instead of doing our daily yoga in the lounge as usual, it might be nice to go out into the garden instead.
Lying on my towel, looking up through the palm tree into the clear, blue sky, was just the tonic I needed. All I could hear were the birds singing, as we went through our yoga stretching routine. The evening sun cast a beautiful light and a gentle breeze stirred the leaves in the trees. It was the perfect temperature and being surrounded by the beauty of nature left me feeling peaceful and happy.
This was the view from my yoga towel – blissful!
Bojangles practising his yoga on my towel – his downward dog is so much better than mine.
When we finished, both of our dogs piled onto my towel for a cuddle, and Jude began barking, as it was already past their evening walk time – she’s a dog who knows her routine! Taking their cue, we took them for a short walk along the river near our home, something we wouldn’t have been able to do at that time just a couple of months ago, as it would already have been dark.
I love the approach of summer for many reasons, but the longer, lighter evenings are my favourite part.
265 days to go
265 reasons to feel glad/happy/joyful to find
£238.68 to raise for Save the Children
If you have enjoyed reading this post, maybe you would like to sponsor The Pollyanna Plan (365 days to find 365 reasons to feel glad/happy/joyful) by making a small donation to my chosen charity, Save the Children.
Each year 8 million children never reach their 5th birthday. Most die from easily preventable diseases like diarrhoea, malaria and pneumonia – especially if they are already weak and undernourished.
Save the Children works in 120 countries around the world helping to ensure more children live to celebrate their 5th birthday and beyond, wherever they are.
