Spring Has Sprung – Day 8 of The Pollyanna Plan

Today was a bittersweet day. Health wise, I’m doing well; still pretty exhausted, but the fever has definitely gone. Horrah!

But this morning, my lovely dog, Shep, had to have the second dose of his treatment for heartworm (parasitic worms that live in, and damage, the heart.)

Shep was a stray when we found him roaming the countryside a couple of months ago – abandoned, starving, with a badly broken leg, he sadly had contracted heartworm from living outdoors.

The great news is that he can be treated and will hopefully make a full recovery. The not so good news is that the treatment is nasty, leaving him in a lot of pain and very distressed. 😦

I guess you’re wondering where my happy reason will come from today?

Well, here it is:

Day 8, Reason 8: I’m so happy that Spring is here!

As Shep felt happier outside, we spent the morning in the garden and I was delighted to see that Spring has arrived.

The sky was blue, the sun was shining and a myriad of birds were singing and soaring in the sky. The garden is lush, green and bursting into life. I could see horses grazing on the hillside across the valley and a smattering of almond trees in blossom. It really was a glorious day and to top it off it reached 20 degrees Celcius. Bliss!

Spring is such a wonderful time of the year. It feels as if the world is waking up and coming back to life. I’m excited to see what the year ahead will bring.

And as for Shep, he’s doing much better now and will soon be back to his normal, happy self.  🙂
