I know if I don’t announce my plan to the world, I’ll never get around to doing it.
So, here we go…. (drum roll)…. the launch of The Pollyanna Plan.
A little background: I have been ill/sick/unwell, whatever you want to call it, pretty much most of my life in one way or another. But for the last 6 years, my health has deteriorated and things have been tough. I’ve been unable to work, socialise or lead a “normal life.” In fact, most days I am too unwell to leave the house or do much at all.
But, enough about that, because I have a plan! Inspired by a wonderful book I read recently, called Excuse Me Your Life is Waiting: The Astonishing Power of Positive Feelings by Lynn Grabhorn and also by the film Julie & Julia, I have set myself the ultimate challenge, which I have named “The Pollyanna Plan” after the literary character, Pollyanna, who always looks for the best in every situation. I want to find out if positive, happy feelings really can improve health and promote healing.
So, The Pollyanna Plan goes something like this:
- 365 days – yep, I’m committing to doing this for 1 whole year. Yikes!
- 365 reasons to FEEL glad/happy/joyful – that’s 1 reason every single day for 1 year, regardless of what life throws at me. Double yikes!
Easier said than done, I’m sure, but I’m a girl who thrives on a challenge and likes a plan. I’m hoping that I will inspire some of you to join me along the way.
